Description

An intimate survey of photography, gravure and painting that explore concepts of identity, transformation, narrative, symbols and carte de visite in a portrait studio and salon setting. Participating artists: Tina Freeman, Sylvia Plachy, Josephine Sacabo, Elizabeth Shannon and Mimi Stafford.

Opening Reception: Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 6 - 9 p.m.

Show Dates: March 10 - April 7, 2012

Gallery Hours: Saturday noon - 5 p.m., Sunday noon - 3 p.m. or by appointment.

The St. Claude Arts' District website has always been paid for, maintained and upgraded by Andrea Garland since its inception in 2005 - no fees have ever been requested from participating venues. Monetary support would be appreciated to help cover hosting fees and time spent maintaining the site - and wold allow for faster implementation of future upgrades. Additionally, Andrea would like to create postcards and other materials to further promote SCAD, which would require funds to cover printing. Any donation, large or small, would be much appreciated!

"I've told anyone who'll listen that, in many respects it was the most satisfying exhibition I've ever had. Primarily, I think, because of the people who attended. Not at all snooty and pretentious, like many art patrons (Like here in Atlanta f'rinstance). And not superficial dorks cruising from gallery to gallery in search of cheap white wine, but really not interested in the art (Like a crowd I had in Philly a couple of years ago.). I dunno...the people who showed up in NOLA were more straightforward and appreciative. Maybe because of the burgeoning art district you guys are developing there. Or maybe because of the nature of the unfeigned eccentricity of the New Orleans resident.
