"It's
that bracing spirit of art anarchy that makes the on-and-near
St. Claude Avenue art scene the spot to watch in 2008." -
Doug MacCash,
Times-Picayune, Dec.
28, 2007
"...in
many respects the most satisfying exhibition I've ever had...
Maybe because of the burgeoning
art district... developing there. Or maybe because of the nature of
the unfeigned eccentricity of the New Orleans resident."

"LOVE LETTERS"
"I've
told anyone who'll listen that, in many respects it was the most satisfying
exhibition I've ever had. Primarily, I think, because of the people who attended.
Not at all snooty and pretentious, like many art patrons (Like here in Atlanta
f'rinstance). And not superficial dorks cruising from gallery to gallery in
search of cheap white wine, but really not interested in the art (Like a crowd
I had in Philly a couple of years ago.). I dunno...the people who showed up
in NOLA were more straightforward and appreciative. Maybe because of the burgeoning
art district you guys are developing there. Or maybe because of the nature
of the unfeigned eccentricity of the New Orleans resident.
Thanks again. Let's continue this relationship.

Hours: Please call for an appointment
From
concert posters to politically charged fine art pieces, Cleveland-based
artist Derek Hess has tested the waters of both the music and art
world for over 15 years. Always a fan of music, Hess began creating
promotional flyers for shows in Cleveland using his own unique vision
and a play off the bands names and genre. These flyers soon garnered
the attention of countless bands as well as both the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame and the infamous Louvre in Paris, who both have Hess’ art
in their permanent collection.
In addition
to posters for bands such as Pantera, Thursday, Pink Floyd and
Pearl Jam, Hess has also created CD covers for bands like Motion
City Soundtrack and Unearth. He has also been featured on television
show and in magazines – TLC, The Food Network, MTV,
Fuse, VH1, Alternative Press and Juxtapose as well as many others. |

MONA ROGERS IN PERSON: A PLAY BY PHILLIP-DIMITRI GALAS Directed
and Choreographed by: Agnes de Garron
Show
Dates & Times: Friday - Sunday April 11 - 13, 8:30 pm
Tickets: $12 Mona
Rogers: ‘'Who needs another story about her?” This
challenge is the opening salvo in an extended barrage of contemptuous,
self-lacerating questions that establish Mona (as played by six male
and female characters, young and old,) as the nightmarish distillation
of a certain breed of woman who grew up in the 1950's. Mona ultimately
seems imprisoned within her own assiduously cultivated beauty-queen
body language. Each actor is playing the different emotions and sides
of one character. Mona is her own Greek chorus and her solo self
all in one. |

SKIP
WILLIAMSON, CHRISTINA GUSEK & THE SUBLIMATOR
Opening
Reception: Saturday
April 12th, 6:00pm - 11:00pm
Art by Skip Williamson
and Christina Gusek, Performance by The Subliminator
"Artist Skip Williamson, (is) one of the beloved granddaddies
of the nihilistic underground comics movement... Trippier than a
sheet of windowpane acid, and often more political than compatriots
like R. Crumb, Williamson also invented the "Playboy Funnies" section
of America's favorite lad mag."
- Diablo Cody (Academy Award winning author of the film "Juno".)
Chris Gusek, an artist originally from western Massachusetts. Her
work is disquieting, willfully scatological and morbidly uncivilized.
She's obsessive/compulsive, a fan of Heavy Metal and her art is like
Yellow Submarine meets Charles Manson if Charles Manson were female.
The Subliminator was found in a state of suspended animation in
an abandoned crate by spacerock guitar ace John Pack in 2002. Col.
Pack immediately installed him in his band Spaceseed, America's premier
spacerock band.
